Siri for Pc - SocioTechnocrats Exclusive

After getting a prasie from everyone that the Voice Recognition technology has come of age and would be popularized  by Siri, ( Apple Iphone).  yes it has. Well we dont know what API is used for Siri to search the voice reconizged input and then search over the internet. Whatever It is .. It is Brilliant.

As a nonuser of MAC product (Financially Non Affordability), we were able to find Siri for PC. After few google searches we were able to find Siri for PC. and found the following Video

We also tried to find out how was it made. We found out that there was a proper voice recognition system in place. We also found out the results were more integrated with Wolfram Alpha ( A search Engine ) . Some of the searches which we were able to make were not able to get apt results.

Only problem I found out was the when we asked vitty questions like people did on many you tubes videos, there were no answers .. Maybe bcos Wolfram Alpha is serious search engine ;)

Btw you can download this extension and try it for your self

Death of Napster

We were in school in 2001, when we heard that there are websites from which you can download mp3 music. Mp3 was something which was new. we only knew that to play music in a computer you needed a CD and Xing player ( Died Years Ago).  A Music CD costed around 400-500 rs and Indian around 250.

Napster, Kazza, Ares were the solution for all our problems. I mean ..we never had to spend a single dime to hear Micheal Jackson`s  (then) new album called "you rock my world" . It was truly amazing how these soft wares helped us gave access to those songs which were far away and way above our budget.

Today after almost ten years, I heard the news that Napster is dead.  We loved you and we will always love you. You guys gave access to the world of music .. Thank you so much

Eclipse : Celebrating 10 Years

Eclipse IDE Celebrates 10 Years

As a student when we started learning Java , it was the dear old notepad which had helped us write programs in java and then by using command prompt we used to write Javac and then compile programs. By the time we learned VB6 , we wished that the Auto Complete Feature and Quick Compilation would be available for Java.

After a quick searches, Eclipse was the only IDE we found that it could do both (Auto Complete and Quick Compilation). I personally had used Eclipse for MSc Project.

Today, Eclipse complete 10 years and we thank Eclipse for its in our student days.

Here is quick link on Eclipse Timeline

Gmail`s New Look

In a very Googlistic style Google launched it Gmail`s New look. As usual followed a video which shows how better it is from it past version.
It show how gmail adapts itself to the resizing window, how clean the interface is and how to change those high resolution themes. Personally, this new gmail look was not a surprise, this was expected by google and they had it coming. What we as geeks had expected was some new features,
1) The Wave Chat or few features which Google wave had could have been incoporated here.
2) An increased mailbox space.
3) It classy blue theme.

Hope Google listens

Especially when we are computer geeks, look everything in binary. And yes today`s date if we consider in a geeky outlook is  binary number (Let go that 2011).

A website called binaryday, has created an interesting application where everything you write gets converted to Binary Digits. It would be interesting for generally people from first years of engineering and tech, who learn the basic of computer. Check out the site .. have fun

Ubuntu : Now a Tablet, TV, Phone Version

Ubuntu made a splash with releasing their 11th version by changing the desktop environment to Unity. Now that Ubuntu has made its splash with a different types of UI for their operating systems they have declared to go public with their OS on Tablet, Phone and a Tv Version too. Yes an TV version of OS would be ready too, with Apple making news about development of TV.

Ubuntu has come a long way by distributing free CDs to individuals and companies Certainly it would be diffcult to predict how the world change with Ubuntu adding to competition for Android, iOS.

WikiLeaks has stopped publishing leaks.

Wikileaks has confirmed that it has stopped publishing leaks or cables and would turn themselves into a more profitable businesses. Wikileaks has also admitted that it would try to raise some money now.

Wikileaks was also facing a blockage of services from all american banks and paymaster services such as Visa, Paypal, Western Union and Mastercard. The reasons for such type of blockade is because of the USA, was most hit by the whistle blowing leaks of Iraq and Afghan war. Since then USA has tried to stem all Wikileaks Activities.

"Certainly, it has been difficult for us for the last 11 months; we have been removed from 95 per cent. We have been surviving on cash reserves and the last 11 months, because if the situation continues, it can continue, if it does continue their need is inevitable," - was expressed by the founder Julian Assange

Wikileaks had also wished to setup an account in India. We hope for the best for Wikileaks
